Communities in Mawlamyine and Ye in Mon State have fled their homes due to flooding caused by heavy rains on June 17, 2018. The Ooredoo Myanmar family has reached out today to relief camps in the area to send food and aid provisions for the flood victims.
Residents from Lamine Township, Han Gan Village and some areas in Ye Townships, Thirimingalar Ward, Thirimyaing Ward, Myaing Tharyar Ward, Phat Khin Ward, Zayar Myaing Ward and Taung Wine Ward in Mawlamyine, Mon State, Myanmar left for safer grounds amidst the destructive flooding in their communities.
Ooredoo Myanmar, through the Bo Bo Win Rescue Society in Mon State, has sent rice, instant noodles packets and canned fish tins to flood-affected victims of 451 households temporarily staying in relief camps at Chan Aye Monastery, No. 11 Basic Education High School in Mawlamyine and Talamom and Lay Lay Zwe Camps in Ye. Ooredoo Myanmar has donated one package per household that would provide the villagers relief for three days.
Mr. Vikram Sinha, CEO of Ooredoo Myanmar, said, “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the flood. We are extending some aid to help ease their grief and distress caused by this natural calamity. We pray for their safety and well-being.”
As the monsoon season started, Ooredoo is making preparations to be able immediately help people that will be affected by unforeseen natural disasters caused by the rains and floods. Ooredoo will be taking all speedy steps to ensure that relief services are provided to unfortunate family urgently.
